The American College

The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1927, and is an accredited educational institution that provides graduate and professional education to professionals in the financial services field. Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®)

The ChFC® professional has taken an eight-course curriculum resulting in the most comprehensive financial planning designation available today. All educational courses preparing for CFP® Certification are included plus specialized knowledge in such subjects as the financial system in the economy, financial planning applications, practical estate planning or additional study in retirement issues.  George E. Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®): Insurance Specialty

The oldest, most-respected designation in the financial services arena, CLU® represents the pinnacle in insurance expertise. Eight rigorous courses cover such subjects as life insurance, planning for business owners and professionals, estate planning, investments, law, health insurance and more.  George E. The National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC)

The National Association of Estate Planners & Councils is a national organization of professional estate planners and affiliated Estate Planning Councils focused on establishing and monitoring the highest professional and educational standards. George Nelson Ridings is a member of this and the Lexington-based Bluegrass Estate Planning Council, and was elected to serve as President-Elect for 2010-2011 and 2011-2012. Association of Estate Planners (AEP)

AEP designation is available to attorneys, Chartered Life Underwriters, Certified Public Accountants, Certified Trust and Financial Advisors, Chartered Financial Consultants, and Certified Financial PlannerTM professionals.  The AEP designation is awarded by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils to professionals who meet stringent experience and education qualifications including two graduate level courses administered by The American College.  George Nelson Ridings earned this designation in 2005.  Click here for more information.

The Corporation for Long- Term Care Certification, Inc. (CLTC) 

The Corporation for Long- Term Care Certification, Inc. has created the long-term care insurance industry’s only third-party professional designation, CLTC.  Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC).  George Nelson Ridings received the CLTC designation in December, 2008, after completing a seven-part multidisciplinary course focusing on the professionalism of long-term care, rather than the selling of insurance products. Students must pass a written exam; have a certificate of good standing, or its equivalent, from the student's state insurance authority; and sign an affidavit, under oath, stating he or she has not had a judgment relating to fraudulent behavior in their profession entered against him or her in the past five years. The CLTC designation is approved by the American Council on Education and affiliated with and endorsed by the College for Financial Planning.  Click here for more information.
